RESURRECTION
A tall , robust boy whose sinews could not be covered by his
green tee, was trying to punch a lanky boy, the beads of sweat appeared on his
brow, then he could hear the director saying, “Cut” and he asked,” What is
wrong with you?” Mayur has to hit that boy and for the third time he has failed to do so.
Mayur being muscular has to act like a bully but unfortunately he has not been
able to act as one. He says, “sorry” and asks the Director to pack up. He goes
back to his room , drinks water and sits with his face cupped between his
hands. Memories flood back, he finds himself in school with his bag being
thrown and he being jostled, hit by boys bigger in size and he, the cute , the
petite one found himself helpless. He found his money being stolen everyday by
a bully. This deprived him from eating his favourite ice – cream. This
perturbed him a lot. He went through this hell, day in and day out without any
respite. The name of the school gave him shivers. Every morning, Mayur’s mom
would dress him up properly, well ironed, neat dress, shining shoes, all this
to be spoilt at the hands of bullies. Mayur unwillingly parted from his dad,
waving bye because he knew , he will be welcomed by, jeers, sneers, bouts,
jostling that shook his soul more than his body. His hair were spoilt, so were
his shoes, his neat dress appeared as soiled as his crumpled soul. These boys
were not only physically hurting Mayur, they were draining his self confidence,
the blood on which life thrives. Each day he suffered, the morning sun
announced darkness for him. The repeated insults, shoving, thrashing, shattered
him and he could not muster up courage to tell his parents as the boys were
giants and rowdy. The situation turned from bad to worse, Mayur started missing
school and lost control on the situation. He kept bottling up every insult that he knew
would take an adverse course. The same happened, the name of school sent
shivers down the spine. At the early teenage when a lot of boosting is required
his teacher taunted him and pushed him into the abyss of depression. The kid
became insomniac, whole night he would toss in bed with open eyes, vacant look,
worrying about the next day. He was not allowed to play, he was pushed aside,
meekly he would sit alone enveloped by his fears. One day the bullies asked
him, which team would win the cricket match, Mayur gave an honest reply and
that cost him thrashing in the washroom. He was dragged, badly beaten, that
incident ripped his soul apart. He started getting migraine, his father being a
doctor realized that it was not minor thing to be ignored so he underwent MRI
and CT scans, unfortunately the reports showed multiple sclerosis in brain. What
he kept bottling up fizzled out in form of migrains. The news was devastating,
a bolt from the blue for the family whose
little flower was wilting. The family decided to take him to America but he got
cured in India only. Then his family underwent financial crunch, home the only
place where he found solace turned gloomy. Mayur thought the darkness would swallow him. So in order
to break the chain , he befriended the
bullies by taking what they had to offer. Mayur
started taking weed, this took him away from his family. He started
missing his tuitions. He was caught smoking by his mother and when his dad
checked his phone he got the shock of his life. He came to know that his only
son was slipping down into the quagmire of weed. Then parents took hold of the situation, he
was made to prepare for entrance and fortunately he cleared and got admission
in Mehar Chand Polytechnic , Jalandhar
for Diploma in Engineering. The parents
were happy to send him away from Shimla because that would snap the ties with
his friends who pushed him into wrong deeds.
Mayur was happy to start life afresh and went to Jalandhar.
He befriended his classmates there. His first morale booster came in the form
of the title Mr. Meher Chand which he
bagged on fresher’s party. He was favourite of his friends.
It seemed the sun of love rose after ages, the night was
pitch dark, horrendous and extremely
long for him. He started loving to
bask in the newly risen sun of warmth and love. Mayur’s new friends were very
supportive. One fine day, his friend
brought Yamha R15, this being Mayur’s favourite
bike, he borrowed it from his friend for a round . Unfortunately a gang
of boys stopped him on the way and started thrashing him for no reason, one boy
hit him hard with kara and his eye swelled, the face got covered with blood, he
was rushed to hospital by an onlookers. Mayur always had a hidden desire to be
an actor, any scar on his face would not have only disfigured his face but also
his dream. The doctors were scared for the loss of vision of one eye but
thankfully he was saved. This incident brought back all the bad memories of
schooldays. Once again, the panic attacks started. He started avoiding people,
thinking they would hurt him physically and take away a chunk of his soul. Later
on when matter was investigated, it was discovered the gang of boys did not come
for him. They came for the owner of the bike and wanted to hit him. It was the
case of mistaken identity.
Mayur’s room mates
helped Mayur give up smoking for once and all. They pushed him for gyming and
fitness. He joined Gold gym which was 7km away from his hostel . The burning
desire fuelled his steps. In scorching heat, he used to walk down to gym, he
was transforming and shedding the skin of fear. He wanted money for his
supplements and his mother supported by selling her gold rings because she
wanted her son to stand tall. She sacrificed her gold rings for her diamond in
making. Such is the love and faith of a
mother. The other person who stood beside him through thick and thin was his
Mamu. He was more like a friend. He was the one who gifted him his first bicycle
and the first phone. Mayur worked really hard on his work outs for whole year
but the results were not satisfactory . He got disappointed but did not want to
give up. He started learning about nutrition and gained knowledge about it for
two years which made him a certified nutritionist.
His body became a bundle of rippling muscles. It seemed as
if the sculptor took ages to carve it. Yes the sculptor was Mayur’s dream to
enter the world of glamour. He sowed in the virgin future the seeds of hardwork
and the harvest he received was in the form of acknowledgement from the world.
He became a cynosure. After diploma, Mayur did his graduation in Computer
Science Engineering. While learning coding, he started learning decoding the
message of success. He hacked success by using the password of hardwork. In
college when the classmates enjoyed breaks in cafes, he would go to his flat, to
cook healthy food, take proper diet and then would return to attend the
lectures. This was dedication which earned him the title of Mr. Personality
2016, Himachal Pardesh.
This humble, dedicated student was asked the question in
final viva of soft skills practical , ‘’who you are within?”
With moist eyes Mayur told his story to his teacher.
Now Mayur is much sought after model and actor. He has acted
in many Punjabi songs of famous singers. The best achievement that makes Mayur
happy is the calls from bullies to take tips from him regarding body building.
Mayur turned the tables with his will power. He has just started walking and will
go a long way. His mantra of success is
Vision, Hustle and Wisdom.
The journey of life is not easy , if it would have been
easy, Mayur would not have been what he is today.
He stumbled,
he crawled,
he cried,
he internally died
but then
with his will power,
he RESURRECTED!
